Samenvatting

Part 1 investigates the occurrence of post-mRNA-1273 vaccination myocarditis and pericarditis. Male sex, younger age, previous infection, and prior poor health may increase the risk of myo-/pericarditis. Older and less healthy patients were more likely to experience severe outcomes following myo-/pericarditis onset.    Part 2 presents the COVID-RED trial, which investigated whether a wearable device could detect SARS-CoV-2 infections. The wearable device could detect infections but also lead to many false positives. Study retention in the trial was linked to participants’ age, employment, living situation, and vaccination status.   Part 3 investigates the use of federated learning in infectious disease research. While promising, the method needs further development.
