  • has worked in the internship institute for at least six months
  • assesses the postgraduate student by means of the available documents and can give constructive feedback
  • participates in the education offered by the Utrecht General Practice Training Institute
  • has a good and collaborative relationship with other parties in healthcare
  • ensures continuity in patient care, proper contactability and a substitution arrangement
  • is willing to develop teaching skills
  • has the space and time to train a postgraduate student
  • has an up-to-date registration system
  • has an internship position approved by the head of the program
  • is RGS-registered

General practice education centers on working and learning of the postgraduate student in the educational practice. The trainer is responsible for realizing a solid learning environment in their practice. Education of trainers is competency-driven.

In-house training day

An important part of education is the training day at the institute. For internship trainers, these are organized 2 to 3 times a year. Depending on the number of registrations, groups of various specialisms may be combined. The lecturers of the postgraduate student groups for Chronic Care, Mental Healthcare and Acute Care supervise the meetings. The program contains the following subjects:

  • exchange (sharing experiences with a fellow internship trainer)
  • evaluation of the collaboration of the internship institute and the general practice training institute
  • new developments in general practice training
  • assessment of postgraduate student, competency assessment list
  • different types of intervisions
  • supervision and coaching
  • educational goals, learning goals,
  • providing feedback, the unmotivated postgraduate student
  • the boundaries of responsibility and delegation
  • subjects requested by the trainers.

The internship trainer receives a personal invitation with the program.

The meetings are held at our training location in Zeist.
